Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

MatrimonyTrust is operated from its registered office at No.29, North Enclave, Second Cross, Sathanur, Bengaluru - 562149, Karnataka, India. GSTIN: 29DEJPP4817N1ZO. We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described in this policy — meaning we decide why and how it is processed, and we are accountable for it.

This policy explains what we collect, why, who else sees it, where it is kept, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

2. What we collect

Information you give us when you register and build your profile:

• Your name, date and place of birth, gender, height, marital status, and your mobile number
• Community details — community, Heritage, gothram, mother tongue, native place — and your birth star details (Nakshatra, Rashi, Lagna) if you choose to use horoscope matching
• Education, occupation, income bracket, family details, and the lifestyle answers you fill in
• Photos and any horoscope document you upload, and your partner preferences

Information created as you use MatrimonyTrust: profiles you view, interests you send and receive, favourites, chat messages and voice notes, whether a call took place and for how long, and your plan and payment history. We also keep basic technical records — your device and browser type, and the time of a request — for security and to find faults.

We ask for no government identity document of any kind. We do not read the contents of your device, your contacts or your camera roll; you choose each photo you upload.

3. Why we use it, and on what basis

Most of what we do is what you asked us to do when you signed up — run your profile, find and show you matches, and let you contact them. Specifically, we use your data:

• To show your profile to other members and show you theirs, within the visibility settings you choose
• To calculate horoscope compatibility, if you have opted in to horoscope matching
• To let you send interests, chat, and reveal contact details on a paid plan
• To notify you about interests, matches and messages, by email and by push if you allow it
• To take payments, raise a GST invoice, and keep the tax records the law requires us to keep
• To keep the platform safe — verifying your phone number, spotting fake or abusive behaviour, and acting on reports

We rely on your consent, which you give when you register and can withdraw by deleting your account; on the agreement between us, to provide the service you signed up for and to take payment for it; on our legal obligations, for tax records and for responding to a lawful order; and on keeping members safe, for the security and anti-abuse work described above. Marketing email is separate — you can unsubscribe from it without leaving MatrimonyTrust.

We do not sell your data, ever, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

4. Who else handles your data

We use these service providers to run MatrimonyTrust. Each handles only what its job needs, acts on our instructions, and is bound by its own data-protection terms. None of them may use your data for their own purposes.

• Google Firebase — sends the one-time code that verifies your phone number, and delivers push notifications
• Amazon Web Services — stores your photos and documents, and serves them
• Supabase — hosts the database holding your profile and your messages
• Railway and Vercel — run the website and the services behind it
• Razorpay — takes your payment. Your card and UPI details go to Razorpay directly and are never seen or stored by us
• Resend — sends our emails
• Cloudflare — relays voice and video calls when a direct connection cannot be made

We also disclose data where the law requires it — to a court, a regulator, or the police acting under lawful authority — and we may share what is necessary to investigate a safety report or to defend a legal claim.

5. Where your data is kept

Your photos and documents are stored in India (Mumbai). Our database and application servers are in Singapore, and our email, payment and call providers operate their own infrastructure, which may be outside India. This means some of your personal data is stored and processed outside India. We choose providers who commit to protecting it to the standard this policy describes, wherever it sits.

6. How long we keep it

• While your account is open — we keep your profile and your messages so the service works.
• If you delete your account — your profile comes down immediately and stops being visible to anyone. You have 60 days to change your mind and restore it. After that the deletion is final and your personal details are permanently erased.
• Your chats — erased within 30 days of the deletion becoming final.
• Last-seen information — kept for 14 days, then dropped.
• Payment and invoice records — kept for as long as Indian tax law requires, even after the account is deleted. These are financial records, not profile data.
• Safety records — where an account was suspended or banned, we keep enough to enforce that decision and to answer a later complaint about it.

7. Cookies

We run no advertising, no analytics and no tracking cookies. There is no Google Analytics on this site, no advertising pixel, and nothing that follows you to other websites. The only cookies we set are the ones the site cannot work without, which is why you are not asked to consent to them:

• mt_session and mt_refresh — keep you signed in. Your browser cannot read these; only our servers can.
• mt_uid and mt_exp — your member id and when your session ends, so the site knows who is signed in and when to renew quietly rather than logging you out mid-task.
• mt_profile_complete — remembers that you finished setup, so you are not sent back through it.
• mt_admin_session — used only by our own staff portal, never set for members.

The sign-in cookies last up to 30 days, or until you sign out; the setup one lasts a year. Clearing them signs you out; nothing else on the site depends on them. If we ever add analytics or advertising, we will ask for your consent first and update this section before doing so.

8. Your photos are yours to control

You choose who can see your photos. During setup — and any time from your profile settings — you pick one of four levels: show to all members (default), show only to profiles you have exchanged interest with, show only on mutual match, or keep completely hidden. No one can bypass your chosen setting.

9. Your rights

• See what we hold — ask us for a copy of your personal data.
• Correct it — most of it you can edit yourself from My Profile; ask us for anything you cannot.
• Delete it — from Settings, at any time, without asking anyone. See section 6 for what happens next.
• Withdraw consent — deleting your account withdraws it. You can turn off marketing email on its own from any email we send.
• Complain — write to our Grievance Officer below. If we do not resolve it, you may take the complaint to the Data Protection Board of India.

We acknowledge a request within 24 hours and answer it within 15 days — the same timelines as any other complaint, set out in full on our Grievance Redressal page. We may ask you to confirm your identity from your registered mobile number first — otherwise anyone could ask for your data by claiming to be you.

10. Keeping it safe

Your data travels encrypted, your password is stored hashed and cannot be read by us, and our staff portal requires a separate login. Contact details stay hidden until a member pays to reveal them and you have not blocked them. No system is perfect, so if a breach ever affects you we will tell you and the Data Protection Board.

11. Where this service is offered

MatrimonyTrust is operated from India, for the Indian matrimony market, and is governed by Indian law — principally the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 and the Information Technology Act 2000 and rules made under it. We welcome members of Indian origin living abroad, but we do not target or market to any other country, and this policy is written to Indian law. Members outside India should be aware their data is handled as described here.

12. Members must be adults

MatrimonyTrust is only for adults of legal marriageable age — 18 for women and 21 for men. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and we remove such an account as soon as we learn of it.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change anything that materially affects you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and update the date at the top of this page. Small clarifications may be made without notice.
